Niji Akanni (born August 12, 1962, Abeokuta, Ogun State) is a revered Nigerian dramatist, screenwriter, director, and producer. He earned a BA in Dramatic Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University, an MA in Film Studies from the University of Ibadan, and an MFA in Screenplay Writing & Directing from India’s FTII. His major works include Aramotu, which won Best Nigerian Film at AMAA 2011, and Heroes & Zeros, which secured Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Editing at AMAA 2013. He also contributed to reality TV (e.g. Big Brother Nigeria) and teaches film theory and practice.
