Nthabiseng Mokoena is a South African intersex activist and human rights advocate. Born in Coligny, North West Province, she was diagnosed in her early twenties with partial androgen insensitivity syndrome. Her personal experiences with stigma and medical mistreatment fueled her commitment to advocating for intersex rights. She began her activism with Transgender and Intersex Africa, focusing on rural and township communities, and later joined the AIDS and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa (ARASA) as Regional Advocacy Officer. In this role, she works to improve healthcare access and legal protections for intersex and transgender individuals across Southern Africa. Nthabiseng also serves on the advisory board of the Intersex Human Rights Fund. Beyond her activism, she's a passionate reader of African literature, a devoted soccer fan, and a proud mother.
