Biography

Okiki Afolayan is a prominent Nigerian film director, producer, and actor, known for his extensive work in the Yoruba film industry. With a career spanning over two decades, he began in 2002 and initially aspired to be an actor. However, his passion shifted to filmmaking behind the camera, leading him to excel as a continuity director, where he garnered numerous awards. He later transitioned to directing and has since helmed over 150 movies, establishing himself as one of Nollywood's prolific filmmakers. An alumnus of Lagos State University, Afolayan is also an executive member of the Directors Guild of Nigeria, advocating for high standards in the Yoruba movie industry. Beyond film, he is an entrepreneur, having fulfilled a long-held dream of opening a hotel in Arepo, Ogun State. He is married to actress Abimbola Ogunnowo, and they welcomed a baby girl in 2022. Okiki Afolayan, who recently celebrated his 40th birthday, continues to be a significant figure in Nigerian cinema.
