Biography
Remi Olutimayin is an award-winning voice director and actor whose career spans two decades. He made history as the first voice director for animation in West Africa and became the inaugural winner of the 2023 SOVAS Award for Outstanding Voice-Over for African Animation. In 2022, he received the APVA African Voice Director Legacy Award in recognition of his pioneering contributions. Beyond his artistic achievements, Remi is a committed autism self-advocate. Diagnosed as an adult, he openly shares his neurodivergent journey, using his platform to enrich understanding and representation. He leverages both professional skill and personal experience to elevate storytelling within animation, audiobooks, films, and audio dramas. As the founder of Voice Acting Africa, Remi has built a vibrant online community for African-descent voice actors, whether local or abroad—providing a supportive space to ask questions, explore creative experiments, and ultimately become more accomplished storytellers of the African experience. He’s also known for his voice roles in shorts like Otana (2020) and Ajaka: Lost in Rome (2023). Through his work and advocacy, Remi Olutimayin continues to shape the trajectory of African animation and serve as a meaningful voice for neurodiversity.
