Biography
Ruby Akubueze is a multi-talented Nigerian actress, filmmaker, singer, model, and entrepreneur. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos and first gained recognition for playing Frances in MTV Shuga Naija (seasons 3–4). She has appeared in over 15 productions, including short films like Rehearsal—which earned international awards—and feature films such as Kasanova (2019), Her, What Happened on Third Street, and Ijogbon (2023), where she played Oby. Ruby is also set to appear in the award-contending film Orah. In 2018 she won the African Fashion Fest Model Award, and in 2020 she was nominated for The Future Awards Africa Prize for Acting. Beyond her screen roles, she is a voice-over artist, singer, and model, and she balances her creative career with launching her crochet fashion brand, 18th Stitch. Ruby is passionate about activism—volunteering with anti-bullying initiatives and advocating for education and gender equality. She continues to push boundaries, with ambitions of breaking into international cinema, including Marvel, and aims to win major acting accolades in the years ahead.
