Biography
Toyin Oshinaike is a Nigerian actor, theatre director, and producer, whose career spans over two decades. He learned his craft by training under acclaimed theatre directors such as Wole Soyinka, Chuck Mike, Jide Ogungbade, and Tunde Awosanmi. He left a banking career in 1993 to follow his passion for acting. Over the years he has played major roles in both theatre and film, including performances in Death and the King’s Horseman and Things Fall Apart, both of which toured internationally. On screen, he has appeared in Jolly Roger (2022), Brotherhood (2022), Adam Bol (2024), The Ghost and the House of Truth among others. He is particularly noted for adapting his work for diverse audiences, as in his portrayal of Baroka in The Lion and The Jewel during a UK tour. Aside from acting, he serves as Producing Director at One Six Productions, a theatre company based in Lagos, which works to foster theatre culture and literacy in Nigeria. His career has earned him several nominations, including a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2022.
