Biography
Toyosi Ige is a UK-based Nigerian filmmaker, screenwriter, and playwright known for his compelling storytelling and cultural narratives. With a background in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Film, Toyosi transitioned from engineering to filmmaking, driven by a passion for visual storytelling. He is the founder of Rayhouse Studios and Rayhouse Academy, institutions dedicated to nurturing emerging filmmakers. His notable works include the award-winning short film Oiza’s Nexus, which won Best Nigerian Short Film at the 2022 Eko International Film Festival, and the web series Heirloom, which explores themes of identity and heritage. Toyosi's films have been showcased at international festivals such as the Birmingham Film Festival and the Abuja International Film Festival. Through his work, he aims to ignite conversations on social and national development, blending Nigerian and Caribbean cultures to create narratives that resonate globally. Currently, he is a cohort member of the Rockup Ready Filmmaking Skills Accelerator Program at Birmingham City University.
