Biography
Uche Agbo is a Nigerian filmmaker, director, and founder of the Coal City Film Festival, a platform spotlighting Southeast Nigeria's creative talent. Raised in Umualor, Enugu State, Uche's passion for storytelling began early, leading him to earn both bachelor's and master's degrees in Theatre and Film Studies from Nnamdi Azikiwe University. He is also the founder of Okike Media and CEO of Uche Agbo Studios. Uche's work spans feature films, documentaries, and advocacy-driven shorts. His filmography includes "So Far Away," Nollywood's first one-man cast film, and "The Final List," distributed across Nigerian and Ghanaian cinemas. He has also directed socially conscious shorts like "Torn," addressing female genital mutilation, and "Terminated," a pro-life campaign film. Beyond filmmaking, Uche holds leadership roles as Chairman of the Nigerian Film Festivals Association and Vice President of the Directors' Guild of Nigeria. He's also a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria and the Screenwriters Guild of Nigeria. Through his work, Uche continues to champion African narratives and nurture the continent's creative ecosystem.
