Biography
Yemi Amodu is a seasoned Nigerian filmmaker, writer, and educator with a career spanning over three decades. Born on August 8, 1968, in Ibadan, Oyo State, he began his artistic journey in 1983 as an actor and poet. He later earned a Diploma and Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts from Olabisi Onabanjo University, specializing in directing. Amodu's diverse skill set includes editing, cinematography, and sound design, which he honed during his early years at DBN TV. His directorial works encompass a range of genres, with notable films like Shadow Parties (2021), Erin Lakatabu (2004), and Afonja (2002). Shadow Parties, a political drama exploring communal conflicts, is available on Netflix. Beyond filmmaking, Amodu has contributed to academia as an Academic Technologist at Olabisi Onabanjo University and serves as the Director of Research and Documentation for the Theatre Arts and Motion Picture Practitioners’ Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN). His work has earned him several accolades, including Best Director at the 2006 FNEI Awards and Best Indigenous Film at the 2008 Abuja Film Festival.
