Olarotimi Fakunle

The first time I saw Olarotimi Fakunle was in the series Slum King, and from that moment, I knew this guy wasn’t your average actor. He delivered that role with such depth and conviction that I had no choice but to keep tabs on him. The make-believe was so real, I found myself fully immersed, as if I was watching someone live, not act. That performance made it clear: this man was built for the screen.

Then came Gangs of Lagos. Omooooo! Fakunle didn’t just play a role, he owned it. The emotion, the energy, the unspoken presence, everything about his performance clicked.

He poured himself into the character and left nothing behind. Since that movie, I’ve made it a personal mission to follow every project he touches.

When I saw the trailer for The Fire and the Moth, I couldn’t wait to close from office, grab my kulikuli and chilled kunu, and enjoy it. And oh, he made every second worth it. Olarotimi Fakunle brought fire to that screen, no pun intended.

His actions was intense, raw, and deeply immersive. He has this rare ability to speak volumes with just a glance or a pause, drawing you into his character’s world like you're living it with him. It wasn’t just entertainment, it was an experience. Whether it’s drama, suspense, or raw emotion, Olarotimi shows up with a presence that’s unforgettable.

There’s just something different about the way he moves on screen. He doesn’t force emotions, he lives them. His silence carries weight. His expressions tell full stories. You feel every line, even when he doesn’t speak. That’s not just acting, that’s art.

As a graduate of Performing Arts, an actor myself, and a diligent researcher of Konstantin Stanislavsky, I understand the weight and discipline it takes to truly live within a role. What Olarotimi Fakunle does isn’t accidental, it’s intentional, layered, and deeply rooted in craft. You can tell he prepares, studies, and completely surrenders himself to every character. That kind of commitment is rare, and as someone who studies the very foundation of method acting, I say with full confidence, Fakunle is a serious actor’s actor.

Olarotimi Fakunle is easily one of my favorite Nollywood actors right now, and honestly, one of the most underrated talents in the industry. If you haven’t been watching him, start now. The man is a quiet force, no noise, no gimmicks, just pure, refined skill.
