Biography
Ade Solanke is a British-Nigerian playwright, screenwriter, and academic. She founded Spora Stories, a company dedicated to telling African diaspora stories on stage and screen. Her debut play, Pandora’s Box, was nominated for Best New Play at the Off West End Theatre Awards and shortlisted for the Nigeria Prize for Literature. Other notable works include East End Boys, West End Girls and The Court Must Have a Queen, which premiered at Hampton Court Palace. Solanke holds an MFA in Screenwriting from the University of Southern California, where she was a Fulbright Scholar. She also earned a BA in English Literature from the University of Sheffield and a postgraduate diploma in Creative Writing from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her screenwriting credits include Dazzling Mirage, and she has worked as a story analyst for Hollywood studios such as Disney and New Line. Currently, she serves as a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Greenwich. Solanke has received numerous accolades, including the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Sheffield and multiple Peggy Ramsay Awards.
