Biography

Akhigbe Ilozobhie, professionally known as Akay Mason, is a Nigerian filmmaker celebrated for his innovative storytelling in Nollywood. After studying political science at the University of Lagos, he pursued his passion for filmmaking at Reel Edge Film Academy in South Africa. Upon returning to Nigeria, he joined Anthill Studios, where he directed his debut feature, Elevator Baby (2019), a commercial success. He continued to break new ground with Day of Destiny (2021), Nigeria's first time-travel film, and Love in a Pandemic (2023). Mason is recognized as one of the youngest directors to achieve box office success in Nollywood.
