Biography

Anthony Carlino is a highly acclaimed set decorator known for his "character-first" approach to dressing environments. A native San Diegan, he built a robust career as a leadman on massive blockbuster franchises—including many foundational films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe like Iron Man and Thor, before transitioning into the specialized role of set decorator. Carlino's work is defined by a meticulous attention to detail that grounds even the most extravagant films in a sense of lived-in reality. He gained widespread international recognition for his collaboration with production designer Florencia Martin on Damien Chazelle's Babylon (2022), where he managed the chaotic, decadent textures of 1920s Hollywood. In 2025, he reached a new career peak with PTA's One Battle After Another, where he spent over two years scouting and sourcing authentic California artifacts to build the film's "vast, sprawling" world.
