Biography

Florencia Martin has cemented her reputation as the "Master Builder of Movie California," known for her ability to treat the state’s architecture as a primary character. She began her career in the art department for television hits like Mad Men and Parks & Recreation before transitioning into film as a set decorator on Oscar-winning projects like Manchester by the Sea. Her ascent to lead production designer was rapid, marked by her ability to recreate specific eras of Los Angeles, the 1970s San Fernando Valley in Licorice Pizza and the decadent 1920s Hollywood of Babylon. In 2025, she reunited with Paul Thomas Anderson for the epic One Battle After Another. Her work on the film, scouting across nine cities to build everything from hand-hewn "cartel-style" tunnels to a secret society headquarters, earned her a 2026 Academy Award nomination for Best Production Design.
