Flower Girl is a 2013 Nigerian romantic comedy by Michelle Bello. It centers on Kemi, a sweet but impatient florist who dreams of marrying her long-term boyfriend, Umar—a lawyer promising engagement once he becomes a partner. When he finally secures the promotion, she expects a proposal—but instead, he calls off the relationship. Heartbroken, Kemi is struck by a star actor, Tunde Kulani. Tunde, sensing a PR opportunity, offers to pose as her new boyfriend to reignite Umar’s jealousy. As the charade plays out, Umar does become jealous—but things don’t go as Kemi plans. Unexpectedly, Tunde starts to fall for Kemi, and she begins to see aspects of herself she’d forgotten in her fixation on marriage. What began as a ploy becomes a deeper journey: learning about genuine love, self-worth, and what truly matters in a relationship. Ultimately, Kemi must choose—not just between two men, but between fantasy and real emotional connection.
