Biography
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, born on September 15, 1977, in Enugu, Nigeria, is a renowned Nigerian author and public speaker. She grew up in Nsukka, where her father was a statistics professor and her mother the first female registrar at the University of Nigeria . Adichie began studying medicine at the University of Nigeria but shifted her focus to writing, eventually earning degrees from Eastern Connecticut State University, Johns Hopkins University, and Yale University. Her literary works include acclaimed novels such as Purple Hibiscus (2003), Half of a Yellow Sun (2006), Americanah (2013), and Dream Count (2025) . She has also penned influential essays like We Should All Be Feminists and Dear Ijeawele . Adichie's storytelling often explores themes of identity, feminism, and postcolonialism. Beyond writing, Adichie is a prominent speaker, known for her TED Talk "The Danger of a Single Story" . Her contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including a MacArthur Fellowship and induction into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
