Chiwetel Umeadi Ejiofor is a British actor, writer, and director of Nigerian descent. He began his acting career at 13 and later attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Ejiofor gained international recognition for his portrayal of Solomon Northup in 12 Years a Slave (2013), earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. His other notable works include Dirty Pretty Things (2002), Kinky Boots (2005), Serenity (2005), and Doctor Strange (2016). In 2008, he won the Olivier Award for Best Actor for his role in Othello. Ejiofor also directed The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (2019).
