Biography

Chy Nwakanma, formally Chiagoziem Ugoeze Nwakanma, is a Nigerian‑born actress who trained in theatre performance in the United States. She earned a BFA in Theatre Performance and a minor in Communication from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She spent part of her upbringing in the U.S. after relocating there at age 11, before returning to Nigeria in 2015 and launching her acting career. Her breakthrough came in the web series This Is It (2016), where she played a lead role, followed by appearances in TV series like Hustle, Life 101, and others. She made her film debut in Disguise (2018). Chy is known for her versatility, humility, and drive — often creating her own content rather than waiting for roles. She also values authenticity and aims to represent “possibility,” showing that talent and hard work can break barriers.
