David Barker is a "filmmaker’s filmmaker," highly sought after for his unique ability to shape complex, socially-driven narratives in the editing room and as a writer. Based in the United States but frequently collaborating on international productions, he has built a reputation for helping visionary directors refine their voices, most notably through his work with Josephine Decker and Petra Costa. In late 2025 and early 2026, Barker’s career reached a new peak with his involvement in several award-winning documentaries and features. He served as the story editor for the critically acclaimed A Want In Her (2024), which swept major categories at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA), including the Raindance Maverick Award.
