Eddie Murphy is a multifaceted American entertainer born on April 3, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York. He gained prominence as a stand-up comedian and became a breakout star on Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1984. His film career took off with hits like 48 Hrs., Trading Places, and Beverly Hills Cop. Murphy continued to build his legacy with roles in Coming to America, The Nutty Professor, and Dreamgirls, for which he won a Golden Globe and earned an Oscar nomination. A versatile performer, he often portrays multiple characters in a single film, a nod to his idol Peter Sellers. Beyond acting, Murphy has dabbled in music, releasing the 1985 hit “Party All the Time” and several comedy albums.
