Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese is a Mosotho filmmaker, writer, and visual artist born in Hlotse, Lesotho, in 1980. A self-taught director, he began his creative journey through poetry before turning to film, drawing inspiration from memory, spirituality, and the social struggles of his homeland. His storytelling blends deeply personal experiences with universal themes of exile, identity, and belonging, often expressed through striking, poetic imagery. Mosese’s early works include his debut feature Tears of Blood (2007), followed by award-winning short films such as Mosonngoa (2014) and Behemoth: Or the Game of God (2016). These films established him as a distinctive voice in African cinema, gaining recognition at international festivals. In 2019, he released two acclaimed works: the essay documentary Mother, I Am Suffocating. This Is My Last Film About You and the feature This Is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection. The latter won a Special Jury Award for Visionary Filmmaking at Sundance. His 2025 film Ancestral Visions of the Future premiered at the Berlinale, continuing his exploration of memory, heritage, and resilience.
