Jerry Mofokeng is a highly respected South African actor known for his compelling performances on stage and screen. Born in 1956 in Soweto, he trained at Wits University and later at Columbia University in New York, honing a strong foundation in theatre. Mofokeng rose to prominence with roles in acclaimed films such as Cry, The Beloved Country and Tsotsi, the latter of which won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Beyond his film career, he has been a force in South African theatre, both as an actor and director. He’s also a motivational speaker and author, drawing from his personal journey and faith to inspire others.
