Maggie Kang

Biography

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Kang moved to Toronto, Canada, at the age of five when her father relocated for work. She grew up in the North York area of Toronto, a community with a significant Korean population. Despite living in Canada, she maintained a strong connection to her roots by spending nearly every summer in South Korea as a child. Her interest in animation was sparked by her father, who introduced her to world cinema, including the works of directors like Kurosawa and Scorsese, and bought her first animation book after noticing her talent for drawing and storytelling. She attended Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario, where she studied Classical Animation, graduating around 2004.
