Biography

Matthias Schoenaerts is an acclaimed Belgian actor known for his physical intensity and emotional depth. He first gained international attention with his breakout performance in the Oscar-nominated film "Bullhead" (2011) and the romantic drama "Rust and Bone" (2012) alongside Marion Cotillard, for which he won the César Award for Most Promising Actor. He has since established a major career in Hollywood, starring in films such as The Danish Girl, Red Sparrow, and the Netflix hit The Old Guard (2020) and its sequel "The Old Guard 2" (2025). He has been officially cast as the main villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills, in James Gunn's DC Universe film "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" (2026). In this role, he plays a ruthless alien fugitive who kills Supergirl's father (in the comic source material) and becomes the target of her intergalactic pursuit.
