Biography

Mothusi Magano is widely regarded as one of South Africa's finest actors, known for his intense method acting and ability to play complex, often dark characters. Born in the small village of Phokeng, he began his journey in the arts at the Mmabana Cultural Centre before studying at the Wits School of Dramatic Art. He achieved international recognition in 2005 with his role as Boston in the Academy Award-winning film Tsotsi. He solidified his status as a household name in South Africa with his chilling portrayal of the assassin known as The Dustbin Man (Phesheya) in the soap opera Scandal!. Magano is a highly decorated actor, winning multiple SAFTAs (South African Film and Television Awards) for his roles in Of Good Report, Intersexions, and Emoyeni. He continues to take on challenging roles in high-profile productions like Blood Psalms and Skeem Saam.
