Rise Interactive Studios, the multi-sector creative economy powerhouse, is proud to announce that its landmark feature film, MAKEMATION, has been selected as the Closing Keynote Event of Africa Week 2026 at King’s College London.
Hosted by the African Leadership Centre within the School of Global Affairs, Africa Week (March 2–6) operates under the theme: “Resourcing African Agency: Priorities, Innovation and Preparedness in a Multipolar World.” The film will screen on March 6, 2026, at the historic Bush House, Strand Campus, marking its UK academic debut following a string of high-profile global showcases.
The selection by King’s College London follows MAKEMATION’s successful appearances on the world’s most prestigious stages for technology and policy. Notably, the film was screened at Harvard University Center for African Studies and AfricaNext@UNGA at the Microsoft Research Lab in New York on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80).
Other global validations include:
· The Global AI Summit (Saudi Arabia)
· Kenya Innovation Week
· The UNDP Marketplace
· A landmark 4-week cinematic run across Nigeria.
MAKEMATION blends Artificial Intelligence with immersive storytelling, centered on a young African girl in STEM who builds a low-cost diagnostic tool to save her father. The film serves as a showcase for revolutionary tech projects such as AI4TraffickKontrol, Cerebral BCI and SheDetectIt Bra.
More than a movie, MAKEMATION has evolved into a powerful social impact platform that inspires complex problem-solving and champions youth and women-led progress in education and ethical entrepreneurship.
“Having MAKEMATION screened as the Closing Keynote at King's College London, following our showcase at the Harvard University, is a validation that African stories and innovation are a global priority,” said Dr. Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, Founder & CEO of Rise Interactive Studios. “We are demonstrating that cinematic intellectual property (IP) is a forward-looking educational tool. This screening invites a serious academic engagement with how we can use storytelling to close the technology and diagnostic gaps globally.”
This showcase signals MAKEMATION'S availability as a licensed educational resource. By integrating AI across production, the film serves as a practical curriculum for the future of STEM and the global creative economy.
