The wait is officially over for Nollywood fans. Netflix and EbonyLife Studios have finally announced that the hit thriller series, Blood Sisters, is returning for a second season. According to an official announcement shared on Instagram, the new season will start streaming globally on Netflix on June 5th.
The big reveal came through a joint social media post by Netflix Nigeria, EbonyLife Studios, and media mogul Mo Abudu. The post featured promotional images teasing what fans can expect, with a caption that hints at the return of old favorites, a few fresh faces, and even a bit of romance.
Mo Abudu could not hide her excitement about the project in the comment section. She described the upcoming season as some of their finest work yet and praised the cast and crew for giving their all to bring the ambitious story to life. She also expressed her deep gratitude to Netflix and the entire production village that made the global release possible.
While the late Biyi Bandele-Thomas and Kenneth Gyang directed the explosive first season, the directorial duties for Season 2 have been handed over to two prominent Nigerian filmmakers, Kayode Kasum and Daniel Emeke Oriahi. The script for this new chapter was written by Craig Freimond and Zelipa Zulu who wrote season 1 with the addition of the creative writing of Adze Ugah.
Fans will see many familiar faces reprising their iconic roles, including Ini Dima-Okojie and Nancy Isime. Other returning cast members include Daniel Etim-Effiong, Gabriel Afolayan, Kate Henshaw, Kehinde Bankole, Segun Arinze, Uche Jombo, and Genoveva Umeh.
To make things even more interesting, the new season is introducing an exciting lineup of new actors. Fans can look forward to seeing Michelle Dede, Patrick Doyle, Bolaji Ogunmola, Mike Afolarin, Anita Alaire Afoke Asuoha (Real Warri Pikin), Blessing Jessica Obasi-Nze, Ejiro Rhozary Onojaife, Eldad Ebehi Osime, Fadekemi Olumide, Ifeanyi Kalu, and Sandra Nwagbaghiro.
As expected, the announcement has triggered a massive wave of excitement across social media. The comment section was quickly flooded with enthusiastic reactions from fans who have been waiting for this update for months.
Many viewers stated that they are already planning to rewatch the first season to refresh their memories before the June release. Others began analyzing the promotional photos immediately, with one sharp fan pointing out that the stern look on the character Uduak's (Kate Henshaw) face proves she is far from repenting. International fans also joined the conversation, expressing their joy that the show will be available to stream globally, including on Netflix UK.
