FilmOne Entertainment has officially signed on to distribute one of Nollywood’s most talked about upcoming films, Headless. The deal was sealed at the Filmhouse Support Office in Lagos, where filmmaker and Maturion Films CEO, Michael W. Ndiomu, was present to confirm the partnership. With this agreement in place, Headless is set to hit cinemas across Nigeria, giving audiences everywhere the chance to experience the film on the big screen.
This collaboration shows FilmOne’s continued effort to support Nigerian stories and help local films reach wider audiences. Known for its strong cinema network and smart distribution strategy, FilmOne is expected to give Headless the kind of visibility that can truly make an impact nationwide. Speaking at the signing, Michael W. Ndiomu shared how excited he was about working with FilmOne again. He described the project as a very personal one and highlighted the dedication that went into making the film. According to him, the lead actor performed a dangerous stunt himself without using a stunt double, adding a level of realism that viewers will clearly feel when watching the film.
FilmOne’s Chief Content Officer, Ladun Awobokun, also expressed excitement about the partnership. She described Headless as a strong and engaging film and noted that the company is proud to help bring such a powerful story to cinemas while continuing to shine a light on the creativity within Nigeria’s film industry.
Headless first caught attention when it premiered as the opening night film at AFRIFF 2024, setting the mood for the festival. The film is produced, written, and directed by Michael W. Ndiomu, who previously worked on the Netflix hit The Origin: Madam Koi-Koi. That film was also distributed by FilmOne, making this new deal a continuation of a working relationship built on trust and past success.
The story follows a morally conflicted Nollywood film producer who is found with a human head in the boot of his car. As investigations begin, the film digs into the dark connections between politics, crime, and the movie industry. It promises suspense, tension, and uncomfortable truths.
The film stars Gideon Okeke in the lead role, alongside Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Baaj Adebule, Ruby Okezie, Iremide Adeoye, Femi Branch, and Segun Arinze. FilmOne also announced the deal on Instagram, confirming that Headless will be released in cinemas nationwide on March 13. Audiences have been urged to anticipate what promises to be a gripping cinema experience.
