A badly behaved Nigerian-American visits her estranged grandma with the hopes of accessing her father's inheritance, only to meet her waterloo when she wakes up one morning with a new personality much to the surprise of her family. Things take a new turn when they discover she may have swapped personalities with a local village girl who is desperate to be friends with her.

Set in early 20th-century colonial Lagos, the film chronicles the defiance of Oba Esugbayi Eleko against British colonial authorities. The narrative follows his struggle to protect the cultural dignity and freedom of his people against unjust policies, such as the imposition of water rates.

The curse lives on. But so does the magic.
