J.K. Simmons is one of the most prolific and respected character actors in Hollywood. He began his career in theater (singing on Broadway) before gaining fame on television as the neo-Nazi Vernon Schillinger in HBO's Oz and Dr. Emil Skoda in Law & Order. He achieved iconic status as J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, a role so definitive he was brought back to play it in the MCU. In 2014, his performance as the abusive jazz instructor Terence Fletcher in Whiplash earned him universal acclaim and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. In animation, he voices Mayor Leodore Lionheart in Disney's Zootopia franchise, Omni-Man in Invincible, and Tenzin in The Legend of Korra.
