Octavia Spencer is one of the most acclaimed actresses of her generation. After years of small roles in film and television (often playing a nurse), she achieved massive breakout success with her role as the outspoken maid Minny Jackson in The Help (2011), which earned her an Academy Award. She continued her streak of critically acclaimed performances in Hidden Figures (2016) and The Shape of Water (2017), becoming the first Black actress to receive two consecutive Oscar nominations after a win. In the animation world, she is known for voicing the distressed but loving Mrs. Otterton in Disney's Zootopia (2016) and the Manticore in Pixar's Onward (2020).
