Award season always comes with excitement. Red carpets, nominations, predictions, and long debates about who deserves what. But for Nollywood actor Kunle Remi, awards are not the reason he does the work.
In a recent Instagram post, he opened up about why he is not moved by award conversations. According to him, he does not believe every film gets properly screened. Sometimes there are too many films, and some good ones may never get the attention they deserve. That belief became stronger after Mirrors was submitted for several awards and festivals last year and did not get picked.
And this is not coming from a place of bitterness. Kunle made it clear that he and his team put in serious work on Mirrors. He praised Diana Childs for her writing and performance, and also gave credit to Filmboy, who he said came fully ready and delivered. It was a two-man show, but they gave it everything. They approached the project like it could be their last film. No holding back. No half effort.
For Kunle, that is what really matters.
He said he does not work for awards. He works to entertain people and to outdo himself. At the time they made Mirrors, he believes it was his best. And he even said that if he handles something he loves deeply again, people should expect even more. That hunger to grow is what drives him, not trophies or plaques.
He also shared how proud he is of the response the film has received. The reviews, the comments, and the messages from people who have watched it show that they created something meaningful. Something relatable. Something inspiring. For him, that connection with the audience is the real reward.
Mirrors, now showing on Diana Childs TV, was not originally made for YouTube. But it found its home there so people could finally see it. And Kunle Remi’s biggest request is simple: if you have watched it, spread the word. Share it on your WhatsApp status. Post about it on Instagram. Tell someone about it. Let more eyes see the work.
He believes the greatest fulfilment for an actor is knowing that people watched, enjoyed, and were moved by a story. That is the ultimate award.
He ended his message on a grateful note, giving glory to God for the gift of creativity, for the ability to perform, interpret, and bring imagination to life. Awards may come or not come. But as long as the work touches hearts and reaches more people, he is satisfied.
For Kunle Remi, that is enough.
