Danny Trejo is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable character actors, famous for his rugged appearance, gravelly voice, and roles as tough guys, villains, and anti-heroes. His path to stardom was unconventional; following a troubled youth involving drug addiction and imprisonment in San Quentin and Folsom, Trejo became a champion boxer while incarcerated. After achieving sobriety in 1969, he worked as a drug counselor. He broke into the film industry by accident in 1985 when he visited the set of Runaway Train to support a man in recovery. He was instantly offered a role as a convict and asked to train Eric Roberts for a boxing scene. Since then, he has appeared in over 400 films and TV shows. Beyond acting, he is a successful entrepreneur with his "Trejo's Tacos" restaurant empire and is a dedicated advocate for recovery and rehabilitation.
