David Fane is a pioneering figure in Pacific Islander comedy and a celebrated New Zealand actor. Born in Auckland to parents from Samoa, he rose to prominence as a founding member of the comedy troupe The Naked Samoans. Fane helped revolutionize New Zealand television with the adult animated series Bro'Town (2004–2009), often referred to as "The Simpsons of the South Pacific," for which he voiced multiple characters and served as a writer. He became a household name in NZ through roles in Sione's Wedding and Outrageous Fortune. In recent years, Fane has found international success, particularly through his collaboration with Taika Waititi. This includes a lovable turn as the soft-hearted pirate "Fang" in HBO's Our Flag Means Death and roles in major Disney animated projects.
