Enda Walsh

Biography

Enda Walsh is a world-renowned playwright and screenwriter whose work is defined by its frantic energy, linguistic dexterity, and deep focus on the routines people create to survive isolation. He shot to fame in 1996 with Disco Pigs, a play that also launched the career of actor Cillian Murphy. Walsh is known for his versatility, moving seamlessly between gritty cinematic biopics, avant-garde opera, and massive Broadway musicals. In 2025 and 2026, Walsh’s career reached a new creative peak. He co-wrote the screenplay for Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love (starring Jennifer Lawrence), which earned him a 2026 IFTA nomination for Best Script. Simultaneously, his experimental "song cycle" play Safe House toured internationally from New York to Berlin, while his operatic trilogy with Donnacha Dennehy concluded with the digital release of The First Child in February 2026.
