Biography
Marlon Lamont Wayans, born July 23, 1972 in New York City, is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer. Eldest among his many projects, he first came to notice in the world of sketch comedy and sitcoms, notably in In Living Color and The Wayans Bros., where he co-starred with his brother Shawn. He also co-wrote and acted in genre-spoof films that have become cult favourites, including Scary Movie, White Chicks, Little Man, Dance Flick, Don’t Be a Menace, and A Haunted House. Though mostly known for comedy, Wayans has shown range through more dramatic work, especially his role in Requiem for a Dream. He’s been active in the industry since the late 1980s, and in addition to film and television he’s developed comedy content by producing, writing, and touring. Born to Howell and Elvira Wayans, he was raised in a large family of ten children. He attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, later enrolled at Howard University but left after two years. Wayans is also a father. His creative drive and willingness to take both comedic and serious roles have made him one of the more versatile performers in his generation of entertainers.
