Ginnifer Goodwin was born in Memphis, Tennessee. She changed the spelling of her name from "Jennifer" to "Ginnifer" to help people pronounce it correctly with her regional Southern dialect. She began her career with guest roles on TV before landing a main role on the show Ed (2001). Her film breakthrough came with Mona Lisa Smile (2003) and the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line (2005). She gained widespread fame playing the youngest wife, Margene Heffman, on the HBO series Big Love (2006–2011). She is best known to modern audiences as Snow White/Mary Margaret Blanchard in the hit ABC fantasy series Once Upon a Time, where she met her real-life husband, Josh Dallas (who played Prince Charming). She also voices Judy Hopps in Disney's billion-dollar franchise Zootopia.
